Physiotherapy Limassol – What do Physiotherapists specialise in?
Physiotherapists are Allied Health professionals who assess, diagnose, treat and help prevent a wide range of health conditions and disorders. They specialise in treating soft tissue injuries and increasing mobility. Physiotherapy is very broad and encompasses injury prevention, acute injury care, rehabilitation and maintenance of functional mobility.
Physiotherapists work closely with the medical professional, and some of their training provided in hospitals. They have a good understanding of common medical conditions, radiology and certain pharmaceutical medicines. They tend to focus on muscle imbalances, movement dysfunction, muscle strengthening and overall rehabilitation. They tend not to focus much on skeletal alignment as chiropractors, osteopaths and our musculoskeletal therapist do. Although some physiotherapists perform considerable amount of hands-on soft-tissue manipulation, many prefer to focus on exercise therapy and treatment delivered using electronic equipment.
Advanced Musculoskeletal Therapy At Ravel Massage Limassol in Cyprus – The Alternative to Physiotherapy
Our musculoskeletal massage therapist, Sunil is not a physiotherapist, but works closely with other health practitioners, including physiotherapists and doctors, where appropriate. He has been trained in rehabilitation techniques and exercise therapy by elite sports physiotherapists.
Similar to physiotherapists, Sunil also carries out detailed movement dysfunction analysis and muscle imbalance assessments. He believes that most musculoskeletal pains derive from muscle imbalances, which can be corrected using soft tissue release and exercise therapy. Exercise therapy and rehabilitation therefore form an important part of Sunil’s treatments at the clinic.
Sunil has also learned a lot from chiropractic and osteopathic techniques, and has learned to pay close attention to skeletal alignment. He has learned and developed skills in releasing fixated joints, such as pelvic and spinal misalignments and rib fixations. These techniques, when applied to situations of fixated joints and trapped nerves, can bring about instant relief from debilitating pain, and creating immediate improvement in range of movement.
Sunil’s assessments processes draw on techniques from all the allied therapy professions, helping him clearly identify the affected structures. These techniques in turn allow him to apply a very targeted treatment, providing his clients with quick and long lasting relief.
