Prenatal and postnatal massage (pregnancy massage) : Pregnancy massage is not really a technique as such, but a type of massage therapy which requires additional skill and care, and knowledge about the risks and contraindications associated with pregnancy. For example, pregnant women have a much greater risk of developing blood clots in the legs and hips, so it is important to use lighter strokes in these areas. Relaxing massage : Our gentle, relaxing massage techniques involve long, broad stokes are generally whole of hand applied rhythmically. They are the foundation from which many remedial massage techniques emerge, and are incorporated into most of our treatments. We also incorporate gentle rocking into many of our techniques, which we apply at an approximate frequency of 60 cycles per minute. Being close to the resting heart rate, and the frequency of nourishment that surrounded us in the womb, rocking at this frequency produces a very nurturing and relaxing feeling in our bodies. More »
