As the name suggests, deep tissue massage techniques are aimed at working through the superficial layers directly on the deeper soft tissue such as muscles, tendons and ligaments. Deep tissue massage in Limassol at our clinic may be applied using fingers, knuckles, fist or elbow, and includes a number of techniques.
Longitudinal strokes work in the direction of the soft tissue fibres and are usually aimed at lengthening and aligning fibres. We often incorporate movement of a joint together with strokes, either to assist in stretching the fibres or to neurologically facilitate their shortening. Transverse strokes work at right angles to the direction of fibres, and are effective at breaking down adhesions and lengthening fibres. Compression techniques, often with active release (where the client performs a movement) can produce quick results and is great for large muscle groups.
