Ravel Therapies Massage Limassol explains Thoracic Outlet Syndrome
You could have Thoracic Outlet Syndrome (TOS) if you have a sharp or shooting pain in your arm, or tingling in your arm or fingers. Meeet our orthopadic massage therapist for thoracic outlet syndrome treatment at Ravel Therapies Massage Limassol in Cyprus.
Thoracic Outlet Syndrome refers to the compression of nerves and sometimes an artery in the area on the side of the neck and top of the chest called the thoracic outlet. The compression may be caused due to a misaligned collar bone or the presence of a cervical rib, but more commonly though it is caused due to tight and short musculature on the side of the neck. These tight muscles reduce the space in the thoracic outlet, thereby compressing the nerves and blood vessels passing through this space.
Thoracic outlet syndrome pain usually manifests as shooting pain down the arm to the fingers, tingling in the arm or fingers, or sometimes weakness in the hand. The symptoms for this condition are similar to those from cervical nerve root compressions and carpal tunnel syndrome.
Thoracic Outlet Syndrome Treatment at Ravel Therapies Massage Limassol
At Ravel Therapies, our musculoskeletal therapist can assess you for TOS as well as other related conditions, and provide you with a specific thoracic outlet syndrome treatment plan. TOS usually comes about from muscle imbalances, with the client usually presenting with a forward head position, forward and rolled shoulders and other postural faults.
We provide advanced orthopaedic massage to target the specific muscles requiring release, in order to reduce the compression on the nerve bundle. Our techniques include cross-fibre massage, myofascial release massage, trigger point massage therapy, muscle energy techniques, and Bowen therapy. The client is also provided with specific thoracic outlet syndrome treatment exercises to stretch the short muscles and strengthen weak muscles, to help correct the muscle imbalances causing this condition.
