Myofascial Release Therapy Cyprus – Ravel Massage Limassol

Myofascial release therapy is a massage technique involving the gentle relaxation of myofascia, which is a sheath-like material wrapping each of our muscles and muscle fibres. Restrictions in the mobility, flexibility and fluidity of this membrane are a major cause of myofascial pain and other related symptoms.

Myofascial therapy is typically slow work and involves the myofascial release therapist applying a stretch to the fascia using firm but gentle pressure through the skin. The fascia is given time to soften and release, before the therapist moves on to another part of the body.

Quite fascinatingly, all myofascia in the body is linked via intricate webs. In particular, there are clear, dominant links between the fascia of specific muscle groups called myofascial trains. For example, the myofascia from the upper back crisscrosses across the lower back and over the buttocks before continuing down the sides of your thighs. It is therefore very common that tight myofascia in the side of your thigh can cause lower or upper back pain and vice versa.

Myofascial Release Therapy Cyprus – Our Treatment at Ravel Therapies

At our myofascial release Cyprus clinic, our myofascial therapists apply this understanding of myofascial trains when incorporating myofascial techniques into their Bowen Technique and remedial massage treatments, in order to get the best results. We usually combine myofascial therapy with trigger point therapy, and also provide client education in self myofascial release exercises and foam roller exercises, as appropriate.
